Left Handed Golfers stand on the RIGHT Side of the BALL !

March 2009

Just been watching  the Michael Hill 2009 New Zealand Open golf from Queenstown . (Arrowtown actually ) . Went over there last year for the WALG  lefties and was blown away by the location . I stayed in Arrowtown  , only 15 minutes max from Queenstown , a bit quieter  . Bottom line is Im going back one day , maybe more with cameras than clubs . It truly is a stunning part of the world and well worth a trip .
PS . Loved Arrowtown Golf Club and its course , I suppose its the people  and if you can break your handicap on it ,  email me , Ill buy you a few beers.

STOP PRESS
Just found a  new website for Hacker Golf Magazine Australia  and signed up . I read the bio on how they started and yep , you won me and my 4 iron is my favourite club but for different reasons than those listed  . Good luck .

Swing Machine Golf ,  teaching principles by Paul Wilson  based on  a mechanical swing machine originally designed on Bryon Nelsons swing and used up until recently to test clubs .

MIZUNO UPDATE   MARCh   2009.    Beautiful !  and yes , sometimes  Im full of crap , but the bottom line still is you CANT BUY a swing , can you !        Ive tried  just like most of us !

Just purchased a  set of Mizuno MP-60s . 3 to PW with regular R300 shafts and will update over the next month or so how they are going . ( Looked at Titleist 735s as well ).
To add to the MP-60 s picked up 3 MP-T wedges (chrome) from the US of A  and  will test them over the next few weeks . They feel very similar in weight ( heavy)  and looks to the irons ( which is what I was after )  and so far feel great .

My gut feeling is a bit flatter and maybe 1/2 inch shorter ,   Hi MR Henry ........

I know we are all different but recon lessons are more valuable  ( correct coach ) than ANY 500 buck whiz bang driver . The best NEW golf gear I have purchased are a 1/2000sec   Canon Video and the CSwing program .  A lot more product than I need   but you quickly SEE   where you are going wrong .(at the top /over the top ) . One day I might get it right , what do they say , " hit it with your butt not your hands " .    Spine angles  , blah blah  . Lateral movement  . ME

Joined Coraki Golf Club and play on Thursdays with the veterans (vets)   and a great bunch of blokes to boot. You play with different guys every week and always a stroke event , a true reflection  of ones ability , I love it and as the course goes clockwise so there is a  lefties OB fence line around  half the course  , keep it in play as they say and can honestly say  the best group of people to play with . Even the pollies ! Well budding mayors anyway.  Just received the NSW Veterans Golfers Association2009 Events Program  and if you wished you could play in a comp  all year round somewhere in the state. You never know where you may end up do you ?

Also joined the  Northern Rivers section of the  Australian Left Handed Golfers Association    NALG  .  These guys need to promote themselves more as it took heaps to find them ! Maybe a website ...

And if you wish to join , or just a lefty on holidays looking for a game e-mail me . Any excuse sounds good to me . Have played a lot of courses from the Mid North Coast up to the Queensland border and intend over the next few years to fill in the gaps .  While some of the "A" courses  need little promotion I'm more into or maybe remember a special hole somewhere ,  or maybe a course where someone comes up and says hello !  SOME DON'T !

Also on   Golflink   , I suppose we all are now ,  a great idea  and takes the hassle out of maintaining  a viable handicap . Well done to all those involved including the guys at the clubs that update the information.

HG UPDATE :
This just gets funnier or sad , on the Golflink site and found a guy , that I don't know living within 10 km of me flogging a set of lefties HG . Pushing it uphill to get $250 bucks  for them .  I have taken the head off a few clubs and use them for training and swing plane  alignment aids !

Just found another guy that  only got 160 for a 2nd hand  set on the net  !

HENRY GRIFFITHS  or however you spell it !

Its a pity I wasn't more practical years ago when I paid a lot of money  ( wearing a  suit ) for a full set of VERY unsuitable Henry Griffitts graphite clubs in Sydney. Yes they where custom fitted  and after many lessons including video ,   TOOOO LONG  and WAAAAY  TOOOOO UPRIGHT .  Not the only reason I got jacked off and stopped playing golf  for 15 years or so but in hindsight didn't help my swing at all .   Stuffed it really . After spending time in front of a video camera I now realise  it was impossible to use these clubs and maintain any spine angle and knee flex/set or whatever its called . I would have needed to drive the irons about 3 inches into the ground  about a foot from my big toe .  Having gorilla length arms doesnt help either.

FOOTNOTE : I wish I could kick their arse without the nightmare. Can you tell this subject gets me going and regardless of how often I update or change this page  THIS LAST PARAGRAPH WILL ALWAYS STAY ...... Holty...

back to Holtys
HMMMMMM.....
Can a 57 year old left handed hacker change it and basically start again , or do I even want to ?  Cause I do !
Ill keep you posted . I have the book (read it once) and the DVD set , ,,watch almost daily .
Have to admit  , so far , so good  ,  its taken a few months and some  VERY horrible  embarrassing rounds but when I get it right , which is now more often than not  it just happens . My keyword is "hips" and the rest just follows ?   NO ARMS , NO ARMS !!!!  , No flippy wrists  .
 It just happens !

Just purchased leftiesgolf.com.au
Something to "play with" and easier than golf, trust me!
